Education:
A 2008 graduate from The College at Brockport with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and a minor in Coaching, in 2010, A.J. would earn a second bachelor’s degree in Communications with a concentration in Broadcasting.
Gymnastics Experience:
A.J. Banker graduated from Rush-Henrietta in 2003 where he was a member of the varsity gymnastics team for 6 years, he was a two-time captain. He won a state championship in 2002 on Pommel Horse and was named to the New York State All-Star team in 2003. He started his college gymnastics career at Springfield College, where the team took 4th place at the USAG Collegiate National Championships. He transferred to Brockport in the spring of 2005, where he helped the team with 5 straight years of top 10 team finishes at the NAIGC National Championships including a 2nd place finish in 2007. He also earned 9 individual top 10 finishes and was the 2007 NAIGC National Floor Exercise Champion.
Coaching/Professional Experience:
A.J. Banker was the head coach of the Brockport men’s club team for 2 seasons, and an assistant to John Feeney and the Brockport women’s varsity gymnastics team for 5 seasons. He was a member board of directors for the NAIGC for 2 years, and is serving as the collegiate club representative for the USAG men’s college gymnastics committee for the second year. A.J.stepped down as the head coach of the Brockport men’s club team in 2010 to take a full-time job in Cincinnati,OH working for USAG Hall of Fame / Olympic Coach Mary Lee Tracy at Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy. In 2011 A.J. moved to Lexington, Kentucky to work at Legacy Gymnastics.
