The Brockport Men’s Gymnastics Team will be distributing a semi-annual newsletter to maintain contact and relations with alumni, supporters, and collegiate gymnastics programs. As our first decade of gymnastics at the College at Brockport concludes we look forward to building a strong network of alumni and supporters to keep collegiate gymnastics strong in New York State and across the country.
2013-2014 Season Recap
The 2013-2014 season continued a growing tradition of Men’s Gymnastics at The College at Brockport. Head coach Karl Jaanimagi (Brockport ’07, 2nd Season) led the Golden Eagle into competitions across the northeast while General Manager AJ Banker’s return to western NY helped bring continued stability to the program.
Senior Co-Captains Matt Power & Ron Ayello led the Men’s Team to a third place finish at the New England Championships at Springfield College in February and to victory at the first annual Walt Dodge Invitational at Syracuse University in March. In April, the Men’s Team competed at the NAIGC National Championships for the second straight year and finished in 12th place. Brockport also hosted defending ECAC Champions William & Mary along with the University of Illinois – Chicago in an NCAA Tri-Meet in early February.
This season the Men’s Team purchased a new AAI Elite Pommel Horse to continue the modernization of the Tuttle North Gymnastics Facility. This was the final piece of competitive equipment need to bring the facility into compliance with NCAA and USAG competition standards. Modern competitive equipment will be instrumental to hosting future NCAA and USAG competitions at The College at Brockport and will enhance training for all gymnasts. These purchases are part of an ongoing project to develop a premier men’s gymnastics training and competition facility at The College at Brockport.
In April, Junior Dave Albaranes became the Men’s Team’s first ever gymnastics scholarship recipient. Dave was awarded a $1,500 scholarship for the 2014-2015 school year from the National Gymnastics Foundation for his continued dedication to gymnastics at the Collegiate Level.

2014-2015 Season Preview
The Brockport Men’s Gymnastics Team has big plans for its tenth anniversary season. During the summer of 2014 work will continue on the development of the Brockport Men’s Gymnastics Foundation. This not-for-profit organization will provide an independent support system for Men’s College Gymnastics in Upstate NY and help ensure the long term stability of the Men’s Team.
The tentative 2014-2015 competition schedule is highlighted by Brockport hosting Arizona State and Washington in a collegiate club meet. The Men’s Team also plans to host a JO Boys Competition in 2015 as a primary fundraiser. Brockport will also look to build on its success on the national stage by returning to the USAG Collegiate Nationals in March 2015 and the NAIGC Nationals in April 2015.
The Brockport Men’s Gymnastics Team is looking for donations to help further the development of the program. Every dollar helps. All donations will go toward team expenses for equipment, uniforms, travel, meet fees, etc. If you are interested in making a donation to the Brockport Men’s Gymnastics Team please make checks payable to “Brockport Recreation Services” and mail them to:
